Social Marketing / Health Promotion

Social Marketing / Health Promotion
Social Marketing is an approach used to develop activities aimed at changing or maintaining people’s behaviour for their benefit.

Whereas marketing in the commercial world ultimately seeks to influence consumer behaviour for profit, social marketing encourages behaviours that provide benefit for individuals and society as a whole (
National Social Marketing Centre 2011).

The NSW HIV/STI Health Promotion Resource Project aims to increase HIV/STI awareness by implementing regular social marketing campaigns, building on past successful NSW World AIDS Campaigns and exploring opportunities to enhance both the reach and impact of STI social marketing in NSW.
